Today’s guest is Angela E. Matthews. She calls herself a serial entrepreneur because she loves the entrepreneurship lifestyle and has built several businesses over the years.
Currently, she’s the woman behind the Happy Investor Method. Angela learned how to use investments to her advantage and is passionate about teaching others how to do the same.
Angela wasn’t taught how to handle money as a child. Her parents moved to the US from Guyana in the late ’70s and in their culture you had what you needed but little else.
Growing up if she needed clothes for school or money for a class trip she could ask for it, but she didn’t earn an allowance or have a source of income to teach her financial strategy or savings. Her parents stressed the importance of education overworking when she was in school. But, when she hit college she found out there was another way to live and there was money to be had.
She discovered that while education is important having a job and a paycheck could also help her throughout her time in college. That set her on the path that eventually led to her creating the Happy Investor Method.
Angela has had to overcome a few obstacles on the path to where she is right now, but there is one thing that helped her along the way—her ability to not take “no” as the final answer. There have been multiple times throughout her life that people told her “no” but she pushed on and found a way to make it happen.
